Taking place from September 5 to 7 in the heart of the White Mountains, northeastern Arizona, the event showcased the spirit of outdoor enthusiasts united by their love for off-roading and exploration.
Friday Night Kickoff: Building a Community
As excited riders rolled into Springerville for check-in at American Legion Post 30, the atmosphere was electric. Old friendships were rekindled and new bonds were forged, enhancing the camaraderie that is central to events like this. The post served not just as a check-in point but as a hub of activity where participants gathered to share stories and anticipation for the adventures awaiting them.
Saturday Ride: 95 Miles of Thrills in the High Country
With 17 side-by-sides and 30 riders, Saturday's 95-mile trek through the rugged beauty of the White Mountains was nothing short of exhilarating. The riders navigated lush meadows and towering pines, and even ventured into New Mexico, underlining the cross-border allure of this stunning location.
Participants spotted herds of elk, deer, and mesmerizing mountain vistas along the way. Lunch in the charming town of Alpine was another highlight, offering a chance for riders to recharge amid breathtaking landscapes. The experience also reinforced the importance of community support when, after a mid-ride breakdown, riders came together to make repairs on a fellow participant’s SXS.
A Night of Celebration and Recognition
Saturday evening at the post was filled with commemoration and entertainment. The dinner festivities included cake for two birthday celebrations, awards, and a generous raffle, all encompassing the spirit of togetherness. Recognizing the oldest rider at 72 and celebrating the furthest traveler from Orange County, CA showcased that adventure truly knows no age limit.
This fostering of communal values resonated deeply, with donations from the Poker Run winner and others illustrating the event's commitment to supporting the local American Legion.
Sunday’s Adventure: More Scenic Explorations
As the final day arrived, riders set off on another scenic journey—85 miles this time. Starting at the Butler Trailhead and moving toward Greer, the group enjoyed picturesque views, including a serene lakeside lunch at Big Lake. The peaceful sounds of a running creek accompanied them on portions of the trail, solidifying this ride as a memorable conclusion to the weekend.
The combination of perfect weather, stunning backdrops, and the sense of shared passion for adventure made this ride an unforgettable experience for participants.
